Monday 2nd July2012- One of Ireland’s most respected and best loved performers Jack L aka Jack Lukeman will be the headline act for the 14th Annual Terryglass Arts Festival which takes place from Wednesday 15th – Sunday 19th August 2012.
Described by the Guardian newspaper as “a mixture of all the great voices of the 20th century” Jack L’s soulful brand of rock and roll will delight audiences in Terryglass Church on Friday 17th August.
Propelled to fame for the hits songs ‘Georgie Boy’ and “Rooftop Lullaby” from his 2000album Metropolis Blue, few artists in Ireland today can match Jacks award winning powerhouse vocals and inspirational live shows.
A regular fixture in both US and European touring circuits from Glastonbury, Jack has also toured the world with the Booker prize nominated author Pat McCabe in a unique two man show.
Always inspired by fellow songwriters Jack has recorded contemporary songs of Randy Newman/Leonard Cohen/Neil Young alongside classic’s from the Great American Songbook often with the RTE Concert Orchestra and was invited to perform the work of Jerome Kern in New York with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra beneath the largest firework display in history on the East River in June 2011.
He has recently released his 6th platinum selling album ‘The Story so far’ and just last week performed at New York’s Lincoln Centre with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra.
Festival Chairperson Valerie Cotter said that Terryglass Arts Festival “is delighted to have secured an artist of Jack L’s calibre and reputation as the headline act of the Festival.”
“Jack L is a consummate performer who has constantly gained rave reviews both at home and abroad and I know that Terryglass audiences will enjoy a wonderful evening of music and song!”
Jack L’s concert commences at 8pm on Friday 17th August.
